Rahima Begum is a fine ARTs graduate with a master’s degree from the University of Chittagong in Bangladesh. In 2008, she immigrated to the United States, driven by her dream of building a better future for her children.
Like many immigrants, Rahima encountered numerous challenges as she adapted to a new life, which kept her away from her artistic pursuits for over a decade. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Rahima felt a deep longing to reconnect with her artistic roots. In the spring of 2020, she picked up her paintbrushes once more, rediscovering comfort and joy in her creative process.
Her artwork draws on Memories, Identity, and the Influence of her surroundings, offering an intimate window into her personal journey.
This page represents an e x c h a n g e between Rahima and her daughter, Taspia Karim Tia, a multidisciplinary designer and movement artist. Together, they explore the e v o l u t i o n from Absolute Impressionism to Abstract Impressionism, weaving their unique Perspectives into each piece. As mother and daughter, they share their creative vision to celebrate art, storytelling, and connection.
